As an au pair on our program, you will benefit from the following…
Before your Departure
- Care and support during the application, interview and matching process
- A personal interview with a member of our team
- Sponsorship of your J1 Exchange Visitor Visa and assistance with obtaining it
- Your individual au pair profile displayed on our Au Pair in America online matching system
- Online Pre-departure Orientation
On and After your Arrival in the usa
- Return flights to and from select U.S. gateways (upon successful completion of the program).
- Online Orientation Program with pre-departure training
- NYC Warm Welcome: A 3-day Welcome & Training Session in New York
- Optional Driver Safety Course
- Red Cross Safety and CPR Courses
- Onward travel required to reach your host family home
- Your own private room and 21 weekly meals provided with your host family
- A study allowance of up to US$500
- Transport access so you can attend your weekly classes
- A weekly stipend – The minimum weekly stipend is calculated by the U.S. Department of State after accounting for costs associated with weekly room and board. Host families and au pairs are free to agree to compensation higher than the legally applicable minimum
- 1.5 days off per week (minimum) and 1 full weekend off per month
- Two weeks paid vacation to travel
- An entire travel month on completion of the program
- Local support from a dedicated Community Counselor
- Organized social events and activities in your area to meet other au pairs
- Ongoing online webinars on various helpful topics
- Emergency assistance (24 hrs) available during your stay

- Travel expenses to your interview, embassy and airport in your home country
- US Embassy Fee: The cost for your visa application isn’t included in our program fee
- Criminal Record Check: Process must be successfully completed before departure
- Medical Form: We require your doctor to confirm you meet our medical requirements by completing our Medical Form (this may incur a cost)
- TB test / chest X-ray
- International Driving License: You must apply for this before departing to the US
- Pocket money for incidentals during your first 2 weeks
- Luggage fees for all flights
- The study allowance provided by your host family may not cover the cost of the course that you wish to study – you may need to use your own personal funds
