AIFS Family of Programs

Au Pair in America® is a program of the American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS), a charity-owned organization headed by Chairman William L. Gertz that has been providing educational and cultural exchange experiences since 1964.

AIFS launched Au Pair in America® in 1986 as the first intercultural, live-in childcare program for U.S. families — a way for young people from abroad to learn about American culture while providing valuable childcare assistance to host families. 

AIFS is owned by the Cyril Taylor Charitable Foundation (CTCF), which supports international education and cultural exchange in all forms. As the sole funder of CTCF, AIFS is dedicated to upholding this mission. To this end, AIFS offers several educational and intercultural programs in addition to Au Pair in America®, including:

If you or a member of your immediate family participated in another AIFS program, you are entitled to receive a 5% program fee discount with Au Pair in America®. Additionally, you will receive a 5% special discount at any AIFS program you choose if you participate in our Au Pair in America® program.
