Au Pair in America® is a program of the American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS), a charity-owned organization headed by Chairman William L. Gertz that has been providing educational and cultural exchange experiences since 1964.
AIFS launched Au Pair in America® in 1986 as the first intercultural, live-in childcare program for U.S. families — a way for young people from abroad to learn about American culture while providing valuable childcare assistance to host families.
AIFS is owned by the Cyril Taylor Charitable Foundation (CTCF), which supports international education and cultural exchange in all forms. As the sole funder of CTCF, AIFS is dedicated to upholding this mission. To this end, AIFS offers several educational and intercultural programs in addition to Au Pair in America®, including:

High school international exchange program
