Ja-O says: "I work as a journalist in the entertainment field. My job is to write the news, interview the celebrities and performers and write a report. I love this career very much because it gives me higher self-confidence that I can come out of my shell, meet a lot of new people each day and to see myself on TV. I am cheerful, talkative, and funny, and I have a good sense of humor. I am very enthusiastic in learning new things. I can adapt to everyone and solve a problem thoughtfully. I went to day care center from February 2016 - March 2016. I took care of group of children aged 4 months - 6 years old (boys and girls), 9 hours per day, 5 days per week. My duties were assisting lead teachers in classes, teaching children phonics and other English skills, also leading the children to activities such as singing, dancing, cooking, origami, painting, making toys, meditation and yoga."

Sonja says: "The work with children is really important to me. Since nearly four years I help in the confirmation classes of my local church. During this time I was part of two groups of confirmees and I also helped at the summer camp of both groups. My main tasks when working with these children are to give instructions, guide small groups and also prepare the classes in advanced...I just love that children are so open minded and unbiased which is the reason why I really enjoy caring for them. This is basically the reason why I would like to do an Au pair year. Of course as I already mentioned, I like traveling which is the reason why I would to spend this year in America. Being an Au pair in America offer me the chance to explore the American way of life."

Maja says: "One of our favorite thing to do as a family is skiing. We have been in Austria, Italy and of course in the Swedish mountains skiing many times and I love it! It is according to me one of the best ways to experience the nature in...Another way to experience nature is Horseback riding! I ride Icelandic horses which are the size of a pony but with muscles as a horse. They are stubborn but really friendly also. I started to ride when I was six so for than half of my life horses have taken a large part of my life. When I was younger I rode a lot of dressage but now I day I almost only ride trail riding...I have always loved to learn about new cultures. For example I was in Indonesia the summer of 2015 with my school and thought it was amazing to see how they lived and what their traditions were. I would love to learn more about the American culture and I think the best way to learn about it is to be a part of it and the work as an au pair will give me that opportunity. "

I agreed, because I'd known Jagoda since she was born. I was taking care of her 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, while her mother was at work. We were having fun with each other, we were playing, singing, painting, watching cartoons. I finished my school in April, so I had a lot of free time and in July I'd decided that I want to go to work. My mother's friend from work asked me, if I want to take care of her daughter and I agreed. I was spending time with Lenka 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, while her mother was at work. We were playing with dolls, reading books, watching cartoons, dancing, singing, painting and spending time outside since it was a great weather."

One is my passion for dancing. I love to dance. If I could I would do it every day for the rest of my life. Unfortunately I didn't discover my passion for it until I was about sixteen, and by then it was too late to start any real career move that could include dance. So instead I started taking evening classes and I have been ever since. I've tried everything from classic ballet to feminine hip hop and I hope I will get a chance to continue this even when I'm in America."

When I don't work I really like baking, cooking, go to the cinema, ice skating (used to figure skate before!), skiing, drawing, driving, go to the beach during summer, have sleepovers with my friends and take dance classes. Dancing is something I love to do and has done since I was 4 years old! In January 2014 I started helping out in a dance studio as a dance teacher. I got to choreograph different dances and learn it to my groups of children. In each group there were 5-15 boys and girls. The youngest age I had was 3 years old and the oldest 9 years old. Between me learning, we used to sit down, play other games and sing songs too (the singing part was only with the youngest though). Each lesson was 45 minutes long and in the end the children's parents got to come in and we had a little show of what the kids had learned this lesson. I really enjoyed this since I love to dance myself. Watching the kids develop was a huge success to see too."

We have the same passion - horseback riding. My whole family loves animals and in our house we have one cat called Marcepan. Generally I keep active lifestyle. I like roller skating, cycling, swimming, playing volleyball, and hiking. I'm also interested in healthy lifestyle. I do not have a special diet but I'm trying to eat healthy food. That's why I cook for myself every day. At home I have to vacuum and do laundry once a week and take care of Marcepan... The biggest challenge in my babysitting career was Wiktoria. She was only 3 when I started taking care of her. I had to have eyes everywhere and watch her all the time, but we coped really well together. I was taking care of her after school and on weekends. I had to supervise her during the outdoor activities such as biking, walking to the park, and playing in the playground. We liked jumping on the trampoline and organized picnics with cuddly toys. At home we were drawing, doing puzzles, reading books and I taught her colors, counting and basic words in English. We spent a great time together."

Sometimes I teach them to sing, some simple words, feed them with milk powder and so on. In the afternoon, if the weather is good we go back to the park to play and go to supermarket. I love the children as they are so innocent...I want to take part in the Au Pair program so that I can be exposed to new things and also learn about some cultural differences. If given the opportunity to be an au pair, I could teach the Chinese language to the kids and adults alike, and share my rich Chinese cultural experiences with the family. I sincerely believe this will offer an opportunity to me and my host family to have a long-term relationship in future..."
