Local counselors and support
staff in 170 communities across the country
Au Pair in America's strength lies in its nationwide network of
more than 170 Community Counselors, one of whom will reside in your
community and maintain contact with you and your au pair throughout
the year-long exchange. More about Community Counselors
here.
Au Pair in America staff, based in Connecticut, provide year-round
support to program participants. Regional Program Managers supervise
the year-round activities of Community Counselors, and support staff
handle the logistics associated with visas,
flights and the au pair orientation program.
A placement team selects and distributes au pair applications for
consideration by host families. Au Pair in America is designated
by the Department of State to place qualified international visitors
with American host families.
Overseas offices are responsible for screening, interviewing and
selecting candidates. Three hundred au pair interviewers around
the world are constantly searching for the highly qualified person
to fill this important role in your family. Staff based in London
and other international cities including Melbourne (Australia),
Bonn (Germany), Warsaw (Poland), and Cape Town (South Africa) supervise
recruitment activities to ensure that the quality of au pair applications
is consistent with Au Pair in America standards and host family
needs.
The program is part of the American
Institute For Foreign Study® (AIFS). With 36 years in the
educational and cultural exchange arena, AIFS has created the largest,
most recognized au pair program in the United States.
Because of its extensive experience in intercultural
exchange, AIFS considers many other componentsinsurance,
transportation, orientationnormal parts of a program....not
extra add-ons!
