Safety Tips: Summer Edition

As the weather warms, it is likely that you will be spending more time outside. Outdoor play is necessary for children, to move their muscles and enjoy the fresh air. It is important to use sunscreen to protect from the sun's rays, and also important to be aware of possible disease-bearing insects.

Check out our Remaining Safe from Insects tips. We also feature a section on Fun in the Sun safety to ensure a fun and safe summer.

Activities for Parents and Children

The Calendar of the Season is an interactive feature on the Au Pair in America website that gives children, parents, and au pairs a fun and informative look at each month of the year through cultural activities and historical facts.

June is National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month

Children should eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Many children prefer the crunch of raw food - especially popular are apples, pears, carrots, and broccoli. You can also grow your own vegetables with the children.
