Blogs: Life in America
Ever wonder what America looks like through the eyes of an au pair? Au Pair in America community counselor Christine Connally features a recurring series on her Maryland cluster’s blog that spotlights an au pair in the U.S. and her experience during her year.
This month, read all about Anna from Germany! Here is an excerpt:
I wanted to go America pretty much since I was 15 years old. For some reason at that point I got more and more excited about everything I saw in the movies and the TV. Especially when we talked about this country in our English lessons at school I was really into it!

A Thai Language Lesson by Global Awareness
Varavalan (Nicky), an au pair from Thailand, lives with her host family in Connecticut and is enjoying her time in the U.S. learning about American culture and customs. She would like to introduce you to a little something about her own country, Thailand.
“Our traditional language looks very different from English. See this lesson on the numbers. The symbols look like artwork! Practice, you can learn it too! I hope you enjoy this!”

Activities for Parents and Children
The Calendar of the Season is an interactive feature on the Au Pair in America website that gives children, parents, and au pairs a fun and informative look at each month of the year through cultural activities and historical facts.
This month, we clicked on the 17th and found that it was National Inventors Month. It's a good day to take children to the library to learn about famous inventors, including Benjamin Franklin and the Wright Brothers.
