| Milwaukee is the largest city in Wisconsin, located
on the shore of Lake Michigan, and just 80 miles North of Chicago.
It is the base for the au pair community in Wisconsin.
Many educational and cultural facilities are located in Milwaukee
and include: an excellent natural history museum, an art center
with an outstanding new addition, Betty Brin Children's Museum,
Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Florentine Opera Company, Milwaukee
Ballet and a large theater district. The Milwaukee Zoo has
an international reputation. The County Park system is particularly
unique, with 15,000 acres of land including golf courses,
pools, tennis courts, nature centers, marinas, the Mitchell
Conservatory and Boerner Botanical Gardens, to name just a
few of the attractions.
The area's 15 Universities and Colleges include Marquette
University. and the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee with
a combined enrollment of over 40,000 students. There are many
smaller colleges and 2 Technical Colleges, MATC and WCTC,
where Au Pairs can find daytime or evening classes.
