Year2 au pairs—Qualified applicants have completed a year in the program and elect to extend their program duration. A limited number will seek placement with a different family for the extension term. In these instances host families pay the published fee in accordance with the au pair's status as an Extraordinaire, EduCare or standard applicant. The weekly stipend is currently $165 for the standard program; $225 for the Au Pair Extraordinaire program; and $125 for the EduCare program.
The weekly stipend for the Au Pair Extraordinaire program and all extension programs are stipulated by Au Pair in America and are as follows:
A Year1 Au Pair Extraordinaire au pair receives $200 per week if she arrived before December 31st, 2007. This amount remains the same throughout her Year1 contract.
Year1 Au Pair Extraordinaire au pairs arriving in 2008 receive a weekly pocket money stipend of $225.
Year2 Au Pair Extraordinaire au pairs receive a weekly stipend of $225.
** The minimum weekly stipend is established by the United States government based on a formula which calculates the federal minimum wage less an allowance for room and board. The stipend for the au pair standard program and for the EduCare program is based on the 2007 minimum wage law currently in effect. The weekly stipend for the Au Pair Extraordinaire is stipulated by Au Pair in America. As federal minimum wage law changes, weekly stipend changes. The 2007 minimum wage law provides for a 3-year phased increase, therefore the weekly stipend noted in the chart above is in effect from July 24, 2008 to July 23, 2009. On July 24, 2009, the weekly stipend for the standard au pair program will increase to $195.75 and the weekly stipend for EduCare to $146.81.
Please note: Fees do not include the educational allowance required of all host families–$500 for the standard and Extraordinaire program; $1,000 for the EduCare program.
A $35 SEVIS fee is charged for every out-of-country au pair arriving to your home.
Excess airline fees: An additional fee may be
imposed if air carriers levy increased fuel surcharges or new increased
taxes after January 1, 2008. Refer to the Program Support and Policies
document for further details. Special note regarding excess
airline fees.
